Visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated throughout the day and drink water often, not just when thirsty.Those participating in a Family Visit will be monitored to ensure they have enough water and that family visiting units are at a safe temperature.Visitors and incarcerated people are advised to alert staff if they are feeling unwell. Staff will observe visitors and incarcerated people for signs of heat-related illnesses.

When necessary, institutions will utilize additional portable cooling units to bring the temperature to a suitable level. Visiting staff will closely monitor the temperature of visiting areas, which are controlled by air conditioning, fans, and/or other portable cooling units.Water stations will be added where possible. If you are denied approval to visit, you may reapply, you may appeal the denial and/or the prisoner may appeal the denial. If you are disapproved, you will receive a letter from the prison setting forth the reason for disapproval the prisoner will also receive notice of the disapproval but will not be given the reason. Once approved, you are listed in the computer as being an approved visitor for the incarcerated person you do not need to bring any proof of approval with you to the prison.
